Wow. I just read Dorner's manifesto in detail and was flabbergasted. What in the world is our modern society coming to? To be honest it reminded me (on reflection) very much of what I read years ago about the Columbine killers. There are honestly a growing group of people in this world who believe that if everything doesn't go their way - it's basically authorization to go wild and take muderous retribution...
  • Plans Against Aggressive Panhandling Stalled in Atlanta

    08/27/2012 4:30:31 PM PDT · by DJlaysitup · 24 replies
The city's current panhandling ordinance is rarely, if ever, enforced, according to police and attorneys who spoke recently to city council. Atlanta's anti-panhandling ordinance is "effectively, a worthless piece of paper" and might have to be scrapped or extensively rewritten to make it enforceable, said Michael J. Bond, chair of the City Council's public safety committee. Atlanta has been trying to push back against panhandling for years, partly to appease downtown residents and partly to protect the city's lucrative tourism and convention industries, which bring in hundreds of thousands of visitors and millions in spending and taxes. And then there...
  • Congrats to Matt Kuchar, TPC winner!

Matt Kuchar wins the TPC with his Mom and his Wife and a bunch of kids around him on Mother's Day. He hit the shots and good for him. He will now be set for the next 5 years on the PGA tour. Kuchar has been a consistent guy in the Masters but had to go back to the "Q" school recently. He recently got a coach who "flattened out" his swing (note to all you Saturdat golfers - I did this too and it worked like a charm for accuracy).

I have the hardest time anymore enjoying College Football. I'm currently watching the game between Cal and Oregon (Ducks) and I expect the Ducks to win. A friend of mine at work is a Ducks fan so I'm trying to pull for them. But every time their "athletes" make a play they hop around like monkeys beating on their chests. It is absurd. I cannot believe that this is what College football has come down to.

Man-o-man...this is getting annoying. Here in North Georgia we are having some weather. Basically it's sprinkling with an occasional light breeze. Apparently there are some localized storms with heavy rain and strong winds. So instead of the usual approach of streaming the watches/warnings below the normal programming (with the occasional beep-beep-beep attention getter) - the weather dudes have taken over the channels and are making it out to be Weather WWIII. I am the last guy to diminish the danger of a tornado (lived through one) - but this weather paranoia is getting annoying. They are "urgently" reporting rain and...

Braves Newcomer Turning More than Heads AJC 4/1/2011, by April Finch While the Braves hammered out a two run win on opening day in Washington Thursday, the biggest news may be from Danville, home of their rookie league affiliate. That is because of their newest pitching prospect, Desana Tuyuca (the players call him Desi), who hails from the village of Funai on the Peruvian border. The village was not even known to the outside world until the 1970s and anthropologists have found the secretive tribe especially hard to study. Then along came Desi. Speaking broken English that he has learned...
